4th Annual Northern Highlights Festival

The fourth annual Northern Highlights Festival, in support of the Clarence Adoo Trust, was held on 10 June 2006. Castleford Songsters, the host of this event, welcomed back Festival Brass as the “house band” with special guests Marjorie Watson (Songster Leader, Regent Hall), Kevin Ashman (Maidstone Corps and International Staff Band) and Peterborough Timbrels.

Gospel Train Tracks Through North Scotland

Maidenhead Citadel Band has completed its 7-day “Gospel Train” tour of the North Scotland Division of the Salvation Army. Starting at Fort William, they moved north to Inverness and Wick, before following the east coastal route to Peterhead, Aberdeen, Dundee and finally Blairgowrie.

Gloucester Supports Cloud 9

The Salvation Army corps in Gloucester has for many years supported the local Gloucester charity Cloud 9. On 14 May, at the Salvation Army hall, Eastgate Street, a benefit concert was held featuring the Gloucester music sections, along with vocal soloists Deborah Ketteringham (Reading Central Corps) and Tom Elliott (Gloucester Corps), who recently appeared on the CBBC program “Level Up” with his puppet, Freddie Bear.

Derby Central Marches for New Mayor

Councillor Trevor Hathaway (representing Tutbury and Outwoods Ward) was elected as the fifteenth Mayor of East Staffordshire Borough Council for the 2006–2007 period at the Council's annual meeting in early May. The Salvation Army band from Derby Central (Bandmaster Alan Losh) participated in welcome ceremonies for the new Mayor, held on Sunday, 14 May.

Concert in Blofield by Norwich Citadel Band

The Norwich Citadel Band (Bandmaster Douglas Beattie) performed at the parish church of St. Andrew and St. Peter in Blofield on 22 April 2006.

Todd Takes the Baton in Anglia

The Anglia Golden Oldies Band has announced the appointment of Ray Todd as Bandmaster, following the retirement, because of ill health, of Bandmaster Bram Scott.
