On Friday, 18 November 2005, the South London Fellowship Band, under the direction of Major George Whittingham, held a concert in the Upper Norwood corps hall, for the benefit of Cancer Research UK. The concert also featured the Bromley Temple Songsters with soloist Mark Norwood and euphonium virtuoso Derick Kane who was joined by his son, Stephen Kane for some duet items.

In the early days of The Salvation Army, one of the first traveling bands was the Household Troops Band, wearing distinctive pith helmet headgear and campaigning throughout Britain. Twenty years ago, this historic ensemble was reborn under the leadership of Major John Mott (musical direction) and Lt.-Colonel David Phillips (spiritual direction), both of whom have maintained their postions with the band for the entire 20 years. On Friday, 11 November 2005, the Troops gathered at the Reading Central corps hall for a concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of the “new” band.

The Salvation Army in Ottawa celebrated 120 years of service in the city in 2005. Part of the observance of this anniversary was a weekend visit from the Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster Kevin Hayward), which took place 5–6 November 2005.

The Salvation Army hall in Gravesend was reopened on Friday, 4 November 2005, following a renovation. The occasion was marked with a musical festival by the South London Fellowship Band (conducted by Major George Whittingham).

The New York Staff Band had a busy but successful weekend in Northeast Ohio on 28–30 October 2005. Despite some potentially serious issues, including having three different fill-in players on solo horn and the illness of the bandmaster, it was described as “one of the most rewarding trips in this decade.”

19 December 2005 14:46:16National Capital Band 80th Anniversary Weekend
The National Headquarters of The Salvation Army in the United States, located in Alexandria, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from the Nation's Capital, was the venue for the celebration of 80 years of continuous service for the National Capital Band. 117 delegates, some traveling from as far as California, the Caribbean, and Sweden, gathered for a Reunion Weekend celebrating the ministry and music of the band over its long history. In addition to the Reunion Sessions held at the National Headquarters, the weekend also featured an Anniversary Festival concert by the National Capital Band on Saturday evening, and a Reunion Concert featuring a Reunion Band and Chorus, on Sunday afternoon.

Southend Citadel Corps hosted a “Two-in-One” Festival on Saturday, 22 October 2005. The concert featured two bands: the South London Fellowship Band (conducted by Major George Whittingham) and the London North East Divisional Band (Bandmaster Geoff Jordan).
