Noted cornet soloist David Daws proved to be as inspiring a guest as could be hoped for when he visited with the Oslo Temple Band (Bandmaster Philip Hannevik) on the last weekend of January, 2005.
17 March 2005 10:33:55Benefit Concert in Catford by South London Fellowship Band
The South London Fellowship Band (directed by Major George Whittingham) performed at the St. Laurence Church in Catford on 18 February 2005. The concert was a benefit for the Catford Corps of the Salvation Army, which is raising funds for a renovation project.
17 March 2005 10:11:40Festival of Brass in Manchester Features ISB
A number of the top brass bands in Britain were featured at the Royal Northern College of Music's Festival of Brass, held in Manchester in late January 2005. Most of these groups, including Grimethorpe Colliery (UK Coal), RNCM Brass, Buy As You View, 2004 British Open champions Foden's Richardson, Brighouse & Rastrick, and the Black Dyke Band. New to the Festival stage this year was the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army, under the direction of Bandmaster Stephen Cobb.
11 March 2005 14:34:55ISB Weekend in the North
The International Staff Band (Bandmaster Stephen Cobb) was invited to take part in this year's Royal Northern College of Music Festival of Brass in Manchester. Since this required the band to travel, the Central North Division was asked if the band could provide some service in that Division preceding the Festival. A weekend visit to Stockport Citadel, 22 – 23 January 2005, developed from this request.
11 March 2005 10:23:17Carol Concerts in Swansea
On Sunday, 19 December 2004, the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea was the venue for two Carol Concerts held by the Swansea Citadel Band and Songsters. Attendance was in excess of 2,000 persons. In addition to the Corps music sections, the Morriston Rugby Club Male Voice Choir also participated in the event.
11 March 2005 09:58:06Triple Header for Canadian Staff Band
The Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster Kevin Hayward) had a long day of concerts on 17 December 2004, with three engagements at two venues.
05 March 2005 07:37:29Coventry City Carol Concert
The concert was presented on 12 December 2004, with the band opening the festivities with Erik Leidzén's classic Christmas Joy. In addition to the band, all of the other Corps music sections also participated in the concert.
