Flint Citadel Announces 70th Annual Thanksgiving Concert

The Flint Citadel Band has announced that its 70th Annual Thanksgiving Concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2002. Trumpet soloist Scott W. Thornburg, professor of trumpet at Western Michigan University. The concert will be held in the James H. Whiting Auditorium, located in the Flint Cultural Center.

NYSB Performs in Old Orchard Beach

For the second time in 2002, the New York Staff Band travelled north to the state of Maine. This visit included performances in Old Orchard Beach. The band arrived in Old Orchard on the afternoon of June 15, 2002.

General Arnold Brown Remembered in Toronto

General Arnold Brown, international leader of The Salvation Army from 1977 - 1981, was remembered in a Service of Thanksgiving at the Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto, Ontario, on July 3, 2002. General Brown was promoted to Glory on June 26, 2002, at the age of 88.

18th Annual Salvationist Star Search

As a part of the 2002 Commissioning weekend, the USA Eastern Territory held the eighteenth annual Salvationist Star Search. Over 500 people from all parts of the territory took part in the competitions. Held this year at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the event saw competition in a number of musical, dramatic and gospel arts categories, including brass, piano and vocal soloists, singing companies, youth choruses, youth bands, timbrel brigades and mime groups.

National Capital Band Ends Season With Many Farewells

On 31 May 2002, the National Capital Band, based in Washington, DC, gathered for a dinner marking the end of the band's 76th consecutive annual season of service.
