Easter at Boscombe
For many years the Easter weekend at Boscombe has been a special time. This year, with special guests Staines Songsters and the leadership of Majors Paul and Jenine Main, proved to be a fitting continuation of a fine tradition.
For the Boscombe Band (Bandmaster Dr. Howard J. Evans), the weekend began on Thursday evening when they joined forces to offer an evening of reflective music and readings for Maundy Thursday. This well-attended event gave an opportunity for everyone to prepare for the weekend ahead. This year the event focused on the symbolism of Christ washing the feet of the disciples.
On Friday evening the band and songsters were again on duty, in support of the weekend leaders. A particular highlight for many was the singing of Nothing But Thy Blood by Major Paul Main.
The Staines Songsters joined in on Saturday and presented a tremendous Easter Musical Festival with the focus on the Cross, both musically and symbolically, as the Cross itself dominated the platform. The hall was nearly full and everyone thoroughly enjoyed and were blessed by the evening.
A busy Easter Sunday at Boscombe meant not only two indoor meetings, but also a visit to Bournemouth and a march through the Gardens to Pinewalk Bandstand, where the Staines Songsters, supported by the Boscombe Band, spread the message to hundreds of people who stopped to watch and to listen.
