Winton Welcomes New Players
The Winton Bournemouth Band of the Salvation Army (Bandmaster Norry Smith) has announced the addition of two players. In addition, several young people have been invited to sit in with the band for rehearsals.
David Mercer joins the band on percussion. Mercer was formerly a member of the Boscombe Corps and recently transferred to Winton Bournemouth.
Joining the euphonium section is Trevor Willis, formerly of the Sittingbourne Corps in Kent. Willis is a teacher of religion and philosophy at Parkstone Grammar School and recently moved to Winton in order to be closer to family.
In addition to these two new members, the band welcomes three members of the YP (youth) Band to rehearsals. This is a significant step in the development of a young musician through the traditional Salvation Army musical sections. Calum Muir (trombone), Paul Winter (horn) and Paul MacGregor (bass) are the most recent to mark this milestone.
