Music Program Helped by Community Donation
Kent County Councillor Chris Capon enjoys listening to music. Most Sundays through the spring, summer and autumn he can be seen listening to the bands that appear on the Hythe Oaklands Bandstand.
One of the bands that appears regularly on the Bandstand is the Hythe Salvation Army Band (Bandmaster Richard Carroll). When Councillor Capon learned that, in addition to the senior band, Hythe Corps had one adult and ten children learning to play musical instruments, with others on a waiting list, he donated £500 to the band by way of encouragement. The money was sourced from the Councillor’s Community Fund.
A grateful Bandmaster Carroll attended the presentation at Hythe Youth Club, receiving the cheque along with representatives from other organizations involved in the Hythe community.
