Changes at Boscombe
George McConnell, Band Secretary for the Boscombe Salvation Army Band (Bandmaster Howard J. Evans), has announced on the band’s web site that flügelhorn player Ged Whittingham has had to step away from active service in the band because of an ongoing battle with cancer. McConnell says, “Since his diagnosis, Ged has been nothing short of an inspiration to the band in the way that he has continued to serve in his own inimitable style despite the considerable difficulties caused by his health. We shall miss his playing, his humour and his dedication.”
In addition to playing in the band, Whittingham served as Band Librarian. This duty will now be performed by Ray Jones, with Garry Lawrence resuming duties as Deputy Bandmaster.
