Swansea Civic Carol Services
On 20 December 2009, the Swansea Citadel Corps held their 24th annual Civic Carol Services at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m in Brangwyn Hall, Swansea. The services were very well attended, with over 1,900 persons total between the two performances. All of the corps sections took part, with the guest performers being the Morriston Rugby Club Male Voice Choir.
Items from the corps band included Immanuel (Stephen Ponsford) and a euphonium duet, Babe in a Manger (arr. Chris Mallett). The songster brigade sang Christmas Gift (Mike Tipton) and A Great Joy (Babbie Mason).
The junior musicians also participated, with the junior band presenting an arrangement by William Himes, Good King What’s-His-Name, and the Singing Company singing Nobody Likes a Grump at Christmas.
The guest male voice choir were in good voice. Among their items were O Holy Night and What Is Christmas without Jesus?.
Over £1,900 was collected for the Mayor’s charity. The service concluded with the traditional Nativity play, portraying the true meaning of Christmas
