Carol Concert for Charity at Chelmsford
On 5 December 2009, the Enfield Citadel Band (Bandmaster Jonathan Corry) joined with the Chelmsford Songsters, Hadleigh Temple Timbrels, and the Monkey Magic Barbershop Quartet for a Christmas concert to benefit the Helen Rollason Cancer Care Centre Appeal. The concert was held in the hall at Chelmsford Citadel and raised over £2,000 for the charity.
The concert was in a traditional Christmas carol format, with items from the Chelmsford Songsters, Enfield Band and musical guests interspersed with congregational carols. Items from the band included Santa Claustrophobia, Fugue in D minor, The Manger Scene, and Shine As the Light. The Hadleigh Timbrels performed routines to Jubilee and Closer Walk. Contributions from the Chelmsford Songsters included Do You Hear What I Hear?, The Virgin Mary, Candlelight Carol, Coventry Carol, Great, Great Joy and Midnight Cry.
