Concert in Aid of East Suffolk Association for the Blind

A packed hall and an enthusiastic audience greeted the Anglia Fellowship Band (Bandmaster Ray Todd) on 27 November 2009 at the Felixstowe Salvation Army Hall for a concert in aid of the East Suffolk Association for the Blind.

The program commenced with the march Under Two Flags and the congregational song “Praise, My Soul”, followed by prayer and introductions from the Felixstowe commanding officer. The band’s next selection was Jesus Folk. This was followed by the first guest soloist of the evening, Cameron Johnson, who played the trumpet solo Tici Tico. Cameron is the grandson of Bandmaster Todd.

The band continued with Viva Scotland, followed by the second of the evening’s guest soloists, vocalist Lindsay Johnson (who is Bandmaster Todd’s daughter and Cameron’s mother). After Lindsay sang, the Fellowship Band presented Carnival Parade. Next was a trombone duet, Gemini, featuring Brian Midgley and Ian Alderton, followed by the well-loved A Sunbeam.

Cameron presented his second solo of the concert, Time of Peace. Major Doug Askew then brought the Scriptures, followed by the Fellowship Band’s offering of The Londonderry Air. Lindsay then brought the second of her solos, with the Fellowship Band following with The Lost Chord. Compère Matthew Peek concluded the concert with prayer.

To get everyone in the mood for Christmas, the Fellowship Band featured Silent Night in an arrangement by a Belgian composer which is proving very popular with the Fellowship Band and audiences alike.
