SAFB at North End Baptist
On Friday, 20 November 2009, the Solent Area Fellowship Band (Bandmaster Chris Kennett) presented a concert at North End Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
The Fellowship Band included a variety of items in the program, including Dudley Bright’s march Assignment, the festival arrangement Let There Be Praise (Barrie Gott), Shout Salvation (Robert Redhead), The Blessing (William Himes) and the meditation Armadale (Ray Bowes).
Individual items featured Dennis Rudd, the Fellowship Band’s principal cornet, who played Peter Graham’s Glorious Ventures, and the Fellowship Band’s principal tenor horn, Callam Carter, who performed Derek Jordan’s arrangement of the Rondo from Mozart’s Fourth Horn Concerto. Dennis Rudd also joined with Aubrey Ford for a cornet and soprano cornet duet, The Cleansing Stream (Erik Leidzén).
A number of seasonal items were also included on the program: Troika (arr. Alan Fernie), Yuletide Rag (Richard Phillips), Christmas Praise and Robert Redhead’s suite The Joy of Christmas.
Reciprocal words of welcome and thanks were given by Reverend Kieran Banks (pastor of the North End Baptist Church) and Bandmaster Kennett.
The Fellowship Band concluded the concert by playing Keith Ketteringham’s arrangement of St. Clements.
