Film Night in Boscombe
Some 200 people were in the hall at Boscombe Corps on Sunday evening, 25 October 2009, for a “Film Night” concert by the Boscombe Band (Bandmaster Howard J. Evans). The program centered around music from a number of different films.
Items played by the band included the following:
- Imperial March from “The Empire Strikes Back (John Williams, arr. Sandy Smith)
- Joyful, Joyful (as a congregational song)
- Gabriel’s Oboe from “The Mission” (Ennio Morricone, arr. David Bertie) – Craig Snell, cornet soloist
- Schindler’s List (John Williams, arr. Jan de Haan)
- The Mask of Zorro (James Horner, arr. Sandy Smith)
- The Vicar of Dibley (Howard Goodall, arr. Bram Wiggins)
- That’ll Do from “Babe” (Randy Newman, arr. Dan Price) – Ged Whittingham, flügelhorn soloist
- ’Neath Dublin Skies (Paul Lovatt-Cooper) – John Starkes, euphonium soloist
- For the Love of a Princess from “Braveheart” (James Horner, arr. Andrew Duncan)
- Jurassic Park (John Williams, arr. Alan Catherall)
- I Will Follow Him from “Sister Act” (arr. Goff Richards) – Trombone feature
