Poringland Singers with Norwich Citadel Band

The Poringland Singers (Conductor Ian Elliot) joined with the Norwich Citadel Band (Bandmaster Richard Woodrow) for a concert held at the Citadel hall on 12 June 2009.

On the early, warm summer evening, the Citadel Band began the concert with the good old George Marshall march The Liberator, which was followed by the first performance of a new piece, Let Everything Praise! by Captain Martin Cordner. David Winch was the tenor horn soloist, playing The Old Rustic Bridge (Erik Leidzén). Other items from the band included The Call of the Righteous (Leslie Condon), Heart Beat (Leonard Ballantine) and the mixture of Tudor and contemporary Christian melodies arranged by Dudley Bright, In Good Company.

The Poringland Singers provided some modern songs from various sources, including Andrew Lloyd Webber’s All I Ask of You from “The Phantom of the Opera”, the Abba hit Thank You for the Music, You Raise Me Up, Can You Feel the Love Tonight? from “The Lion King” and several other songs. Also included were Sanctus and Adiemus by Karl Jenkins.

The two groups joined together to present Love Changes Everything (Andrew Lloyd Webber) and John Rutter’s A Gaelic Blessing.
