Bellshill at Bothwell Evangelical Church

On 18 April 2009, a bright and sunny Saturday, the Bellshill Band (Bandmaster Ian Dickie) headed a few miles down the road from Bellshill to Bothwell for a concert at Bothwell Evangelical Church.

After a few anxious moments for one of the bass section, who managed to take the stage sans tuba (having left the instrument in a side room), the band got the concert underway with the march Punchinello. The program contained a number of changes from programs used by the band in recent concerts. The newest edition was Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral, a piece that a number of the band had indicated was one of their favorites.

Also on the program were four solo items:

  • Yvonne Ferguson (cornet) – My Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose
  • Gemma Gunn (vocal) – The Wind Beneath My Wings
  • Lynn Shanks (flügelhorn) – Through It All
  • Christ Shanks (euphonium) – Dearest Name

A good evening of praise and worship was had by all present at Bothwell on the night.
