New Leadership for New England Brass Band

The New England Brass Band has announced that Stephen Bulla will take the helm as Music Director for the 2008–2009 season.

Bulla’s appointment marks the end of a decade of leadership for the NEBB provided by Douglas Yeo, who is retiring. Writing in the band’s newsletter, Yeo states: “While these 10 years have been ones of great joy as I have collaborated with the talented, dedicated, hard working and nice group of people we know as the NEBB, I am in a season of life where I feel God calling me to other things, including marking out greater margins around my life so my plate is not so full. My decision to leave the NEBB is one of several things I am doing to re-order my life in positive ways.”

Stephen Bulla is an internationally recognized composer, clinician and arranger. Professionally, he is the Chief Arranger for “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band and White House Orchestra, one of the world’s premier military ensembles. His compositions are well-known in both the concert and brass band worlds. In addition, he has often been called upon to adjudicate brass band contests, most recently for the 2008 North American Brass Band Association contest.
