Carols and Christmas Music 2007 - Bristol Easton
For over thirty years, the Bristol Easton Corps has been presenting its annual Festival of Carols and Christmas Music. The majority of these events have been held in Bristol’s premier concert hall, the Colston Hall. For 2007, two concerts were presented, with a total attendance of over 2,500.
The special guest for the 2007 concerts was vocalist Rob Moye (International Staff Songsters), who started off the program with a special arrangement of Starry Night, joining with the corps band and songsters.
One of the highlights of the event was after the enactment of the Nativity by the Sunday Club, when dozens of children accepted an invitation to come to the stage and sing Away in a Manger with the Salvationist children.
The event, held on Sunday, is free of charge for the attendees. The majority of costs are covered by sponsorship from generous local businesses.
Proceeds from the offering taken at both performances totaled £4112.12. This was donated to the Jessie May Trust, a Bristol-based charity whose objective is to provide support and practical help to families who have a child suffering from a terminal illness, whenever possible tailoring that support to allow the child to remain at home for as long as possible.
