Andover Visit for Portsmouth Citadel Band

A capacity crowd greeted the Portsmouth Citadel Band (Bandmaster John Hanchett) on its visit to the Andover Corps on 29 September 2007. Items from the band featured pieces old and new, from Martin Cordner’s In Christ Alone to the well-loved classic The Triumph of Peace. Someone commented “There was something for everyone.”

The event also marked the last time in which former bandmaster David Mallett would be playing with Portsmouth Citadel, at least for a couple of years. Mallett and his wife, Beryl, will be moving to southern California where he has taken a post working in the Salvation Army music ministry.
