Hythe Harvest Celebrations

The Hythe Corps Band closed the bandstand season at the local park with a live outdoor concert. Bandmaster Richard Carroll served as compère for the afternoon, with a carefully selected program that included soul-stirring music, classics, solos, a few foot-tappers, and some traditional hymns. The Bandmaster’s humor, along with the joyful spirit of the band itself, was contagious, and even as the weather grew chilly the warmth of the occasion was evident through the smiles on people’s faces.

The concert was the culmination of an entire day of Harvest celebrations, which began in the morning church service. The traditional meeting included a display of thanks to God for His provision, food baskets that were decorated by the children, traditional harvest hymns, and a message targeted at both young and old, with the Biblical character Daniel as the central theme.
