Hynd Bows Out in Enfield
The Enfield Citadel Band (Bandmaster Andrew Blyth) has announced that one of their long-time members, Malcolm Hynd, has stepped down from the band as the result of changes with his employment. Hynd joined the band in 1975, and has played solo cornet and most recently flügelhorn, serving both as a section player and a soloist. He also contributed to the work of the band with his administrative and organizational skills, serving as Assistant Band Secretary and Band Secretary for a total of fifteen years.
Hynd's departure has caused some other personnel moves. Scott Garman has moved into the flügelhorn chair from the horn section, and Lloyd Hardwick has rejoined the band, on first horn.
Also, six members of the Young People's Band have been invited to sit in on recent rehearsals. Josh Byfield, Simon Hicks, Ben Horton, Alexander Price, James Shepherd and Adam Whitehead, all of whom were enrolled as senior soldiers during the spring, have strong family connections to the Enfield Citadel Band.
