New Executive Officer in Toronto

The Canadian Staff Band (Bandmaster Kevin Hayward) has announced the appointment of a new Executive Officer, effective 1 January 2006.

Major Ron Millar succeeds Lt.-Colonel Bill Wilson (R), who had served as Executive Officer for nine months. This time included the Staff Band's tour of Western Canada last year.

Major Millar was a music and history teacher before beginning full-time service as a Salvation Army officer. He and his wife, Donna, entered training from Winnipeg and were commissioned in 1978. Currently appointed to Territorial Headquarters as Assistant Secretary for Personnel (Leadership Development), Major Millar previously served in local corps appointments in Parry Sound, Ontario; Hamilton Citadel, Bermuda; Agincourt Temple, Ontario; and three years at Brisbane City Temple, Australia. He has also served as Divisional Youth Secretary for Alberta, and as an education officer and later Principal of the training college in Toronto. He is a long-time bandsman, and currently plays cornet with the Agincourt Salvation Army band.

In addition to the new Executive Officer, the Staff Band has also announced that Paul Robertson and Steve Nelson have left the group for personal reasons.
