Carols and Christmas Music in Bristol
The Bristol Easton Corps of the Salvation Army again presented their Annual Festival of Carols and Christmas Music at Colston Hall. Held on a Sunday, the event was sponsored by local businesses so that no admission charge would be necessary. This support totaled £2,300, and all costs were thus covered before the event. Collections for charity during the two performances, which were to be equally divided between the Parkinson's Disease Society and Dreams Come True (a charity supporting terminally ill children), came to £6,500.
The Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor Peter Abraham and his wife Pearl attended the afternoon performance. During the evening event, surprise guest Anthony Stuart-Lloyd, just off the stage at the Hippodrome in Bristol, where he was playing the part of the Ghost of Christmas Present in Scrooge, gave an impromptu solo of We Three Kings.
