An Evening in Prison
The Gloucester Salvation Army Band (Bandmaster Clifford Matthews) joined with the Chaplaincy team for an evening of carols and Christmas celebration at Gloucester Prison, HMP, on 14 December 2005. The service included carol singing, Scripture readings by both Chaplaincy team members and prison inmates, and Christmas greetings from the inmates, including one inmate who expressed his joy at an anticipated release the next week. Two inmates displayed their craft talents, having made a Nativity scene that was displayed in the prison chapel.
The evening concluded with Jingle Bells and mince pies, leaving both prisoners and guests with a glimpse of the true meaning of Christmas.
