Second Annual Christmas Spectacular in Hythe
For the second year running, Salvation Army musicians from Hythe, Kent were invited to provide a Christmas Spectacular by the Hythe Chamber of Commerce. The event took place at the Hythe Town Hall on Sunday, 11 December 2005.
On a very sunny but cold Sunday morning the ancient High Street resounded to the sounds of Christmas Joy, an arrangement of Mid-Winter as a euphonium solo performed by the arranger, Songster Leader Wes Carroll, and many favorite carols. In addition to the Hythe Salvation Army Band (Bandmaster Richard Carroll), the Hythe Songsters participated, singing Joy to the World (arranged in the style of the popular motion picture “Sister Act”) and Come to the Cradle (both arrangements by the Songster Leader). During the second song, the children formed a Nativity scene. Led by the Captains Phil and Karen Layton, the atmosphere during the performance was enhanced with the use of snow machines to create a truly “English” Christmas scene.
