Musch Takes the Baton in Amsterdam

The Amsterdam Staff Band of The Salvation Army has announced the appointment of Thijs Musch as Bandmaster, effective 1 January 2006. Musch, who is a long-time member of the Staff Band, is a professional musician currently serving in a military band. Educated at the conservatory in Zwolle, he has been a well-traveled conductor in the wind band field, conducting Harmonie Orkest Brummen (H.O.B.) and Concordia Oldebroek, as well as serving as bandmaster of the Salvation Army band in Deventer. As a freelance trumpeter, he has appeared with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

Replacing Bandmaster Howard J. Evans, Musch is expected to maintain the high musical standard which has become a hallmark of the Amsterdam Staff Band.
