Charity Concert in Gloucester
The Salvation Army Gloucester hosted a concert in support of the Gloucestershire Multiple Sclerosis Information and Therapy Centre on 9 October 2005. More than £500 was raised through an evening of vocal and brass band music for the organization, an independent registered charity supporting those suffering from multiple sclerosis in Gloucestershire.
Featured performers were soprano Jennier Barr, baritone Rob Jones, and violinist Tom Fox. The Gloucester Salvation Army Band and Songsters also performed. Items included Intrada (Moffat) and Spanish Dance (Sarasaste) played by Tom Fox; selections from the musical Les Misérables sung by Rob Jones; and two classical selections sung by Jennifer Barr, Casta Diva from the opera “Norma” (Bellini) and Mozart's Alleluia.
The Gloucester Salvation Army Band opened the concert with the march Able; contributed a trombone feature, From That Sacred Hill, and concluded the festival with A Fanfare of Praise. Items from the Gloucester Salvation Army Songsters included My Joy Through the Ages and I Will Sing Your Praises. Major Paul Doust gave a Scripture message entitled “Treasures in Jars of Clay” based on 2 Corinthians 4.
