Concert at Motherwell Ebenezer Church by Bellshill Band
The Bellshill Salvation Army Band (Bandmaster Ian Dickie) presented a concert at the Motherwell Ebenezer Church on 4 October 2005. The event was the inaugural evening for a series of women's meetings at the church. Over 100 persons attended, filling the hall. Although the band was missing some players because of illness and work commitments (the concert being on a Tuesday evening), its ministry was still effective.
The program opened with the march The Pioneers. This was followed by a special brass quartet presentation of Sweet and Low, featuring Yvonne Ferguson (cornet), Lynn Shanks (flügelhorn), Sarah Allan (tenor horn), and Chris Shanks (euphonium). Following an invocation and congregational song, Yvonne Ferguson was again featured, this time playing the cornet solo My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose. Vocal soloist Gemma Gunn sang You Got To Go By Grace, and the band played Swedish Folk Song and Skirl.
Lynn Shanks played I Don't Know How to Love Him, from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Jesus Christ Superstar as a flügelhorn solo, followed by a time of reflection, another congregational song, and a closing prayer by Captain Andrea Still. The encore was the old standard brass band item, the Radetzky March.
