Fellowship Band in Greenford
On Saturday, 1 October 2005, the Central Southern Area Fellowship Band (Bandmaster Brian Cooper) and Singers visited Greenford for a concert performance. The venue was the Church of the Holy Cross, a medieval-style church. Proceeds from the concert were for the benefit of building funds for both the Church of the Holy Cross and the local Salvation Army corps.
Being constructed almost completely of timber, the church provided a strong positive ambience for the music of the brass band. Items such as Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks and Sir Dean Goffin's essay in brass Arise, My Soul, Arise, in addition to the vocal efforts of the Singers, resonated throughout the building, enhancing the impact of the music.
