Successor to a Legend
The Enfield Citadel Band of The Salvation Army has announced that Andrew Blyth will succeed James Williams MBE as Bandmaster. Bandmaster Williams will retire in mid-October after 44 years of service, during which he has become recognized as one of the finest brass band conductors both inside and outside of The Salvation Army. Blyth will take the baton on the weekend of 15‑16 October.
Blyth is the Assistant Director of Music for The Salvation Army in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, where his responsibilities include all of the territory's music publication efforts. He joined the Enfield Citadel Band in September, 2004. His extensive musical experience includes a term as the Leader of the International Staff Songsters and over ten years of service with the International Staff Band.
