Hythe Band in the Castle

The Hythe Band of The Salvation Army (Bandmaster Richard Carroll) was invited to Walmer Castle to play as part of a reception hosted by the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, on 23 July 2005.

On a warm, sunny evening, the turrets of Walmer Castle resounded to Gospel music when the Admiral, Lord Boyce, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, invited the Hythe Band of the Salvation Army to play at a reception for all the civic dignitaries of the Cinque Ports, their Limbs and former Speakers of the Confederation of the Cinque Ports.

The band played a wide variety of music, including Tomado de la Mano, Southern New England, and Gospel Songs Sing-Along. Several solo items and features were presented, including cornet solos played by Wendy Margott, Terry Jackson, Captain Phil Layton and Jeremy Davis; euphonium solos played by Wesley Carroll, and a superb tenor horn performance by Alyson Found.

The Lord Warden was most gracious in thanking the band for its fine performance, and then conducted the band in the march Fill the World with Music.
