Anglia Golden Oldies Reach Yorkshire
A delighted congregation filled St. Nicholas' Church, Rawmarsh, when the Parkgate Corps of The Salvation Army hosted the Anglia Golden Oldies Band on Saturday, 14 May 2005. The band, under the direction of Deputy Bandmaster John Ranner (Bandmaster Bram Scott having been taken ill just prior to the band's departure from East Anglia), presented a traditional Salvation Army Band Festival. The program included solos and duets from various members of the band.
Lieutenant-Colonel Ray Caddy, a former Executive Officer of the Golden Oldies Band, compéred the programme and gave helpful comments to the congregation who were, in the main, from other churches in the area. Throughout the festival, the gospel message was kept to the forefront. The event raised £400 for the Parkgate Corps building fund.
