ISB Participates in Portsmouth Celebration

As a part of the Portsmouth Citadel Band's year-long celebration of its 125th anniversary, the International Staff Band, under the direction of Bandmaster Stephen Cobb, visited the city on the weekend of 23–24 April 2005.

St. Mary's Church was the venue for the Saturday evening festival, which began with the march Montclair Citadel. Several solo items were included, featuring Martin Bryant (cornet), Kevin Ashman (cornet), Andrew Justice (trombone) and Derick Kane (euphonium). Full-band selections included new works such as Glorifico Aeternum and Tomado de la Mano. Another featured item was Ray Steadman-Allen's masterful extended work Victorian Snapshots: On Ratcliff Highway.

On Sunday, the band participated in the Sunday services. Featured soloists included Matthew Cobb (cornet) and Jonathan Miller (horn). The band's major contribution to the meeting was Dean Goffin's symphonic masterpiece My Strength, My Tower.
