"A Celebration of Praise" in Woodbridge

The Anglia Golden Oldies Band presented a benefit concert at St. Johns Church in Woodbridge, Suffolk, on 19 March 2005. Proceeds from the evening were distributed to three organizations: the Woodbridge Salvation Army Community Fund, "Just 42" (a local Christian youth project), and a school in Mozambique.

The concert program was a varied one, including items such as Mendelssohn's War March of the Priests, Sound Out the Proclamation (Eric Ball), Pilgrims (Kenneth Ketteringham), 'Neath Italian Skies (Ray Steadman-Allen), and Irish Air (Alladale). The audience was given the opportunity to participate with three congregational songs. The Male Voice choir also contributed, singing That Beautiful Land (arr. Eric Ball).

Solo and feature items included a piano solo played by Brian Cooper. Mozart Air, a tuba solo, was performed by Maurice Page in his first time as a soloist with the band. A duet for soprano cornet and flügelhorn, Pié Jesu, was played by Trevor Baker and Dennis Versey.

Major David Diaper, in his first engagement with the band, brought a Bible message. Major Diaper has recently moved to the Ipswich area following retirement from active service. The band concluded the program with a classic Salvation Army march, Silver Star (Ray Steadman-Allen).
