Evening in Leaming Spa for Coventry City Corps Band

The Coventry City Band of the Salvation Army (Bandmaster Steve Whitmore) joined with the Central Warwickshire Singers (director Sheila Russell) and The Sound of Three Spires, a barbershop singing group, for the 29th Christmas Carol Evening at the Spa Centre in Leamington Spa, held on 3 December 2004. The event was organized by the Committee of the AP XXV Club.

The band began the evening with The Shining Star (Peter Graham), a march-medley of well-known carols. The band also accompanied the audience for singing, with a total of seven "sets" of carols for the audience. Huw Ellis, Deputy Bandmaster, was featured in a rendition of Who Is He? (arr. Richard Phillips), which bridges the key events of Christmas and Easter. The band also played William Himes' arrangement of White Christmas and a transcription of Leroy Anderson's class Christmas medley, A Christmas Festival. A Christmas message was brought by Reverend Richard Suffern.
