Bristol Easton Uses Carol Concerts to Support Hospice Campaign
During 2004, BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Somerset Sound have been conducting a campaign to raise funds for the creation of a new Children's Hospice, to be located in Wraxall, near Bristol. The campaign's goal was a total of £1,000,000. The Bristol Easton Corps of the Salvation Army supported this effort by donating the collection from its annual Carol Concerts, held on the afternoon and evening of 7 December 2004 at the 2000-seat Colston Hall in Bristol. The concerts, attended by an estimated crowd of 3,500 persons, generated a donation of £7,731.01 to the hospice campaign.
The Carol Concerts featured both the senior and youth music sections of the Bristol Easton Corps. The special guest vocalist was Richard McIntosh from Chatham. Sponsorship for the event was supplied by Bristol & West PLC, with additional sponsorship from Axa Sun Life and the aeronautical engine division of Rolls-Royce, all of which companies have principal offices in the Bristol area.
