Birmingham Citadel Band Supports Magistrates' Service
On the afternoon of 21 November 2004, a Service of Choral Evensong was held at the Lichfield Cathedral in prayer and thanksgiving for the work of the judiciary and magistrancy in Staffordshire. Music before and after the service was provided by the Birmingham Citadel Band of the Salvation Army (Bandmaster David Nicholson). The band provided music as the various magistrates and their families gathered in the Cathedral, and used the fanfare Her Majesty to announce the arrival of the Choir, clergy and civic dignitaries including the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, James Hawley, and the High Sheriff of Staffordshire.
Following the band playing the hymn tune French, representatives reaffirmed the Oath of Allegiance and the Judicial Oath, before His Honor Judge Shand. His Honor Judge Tonking then read the Queen's Commission for Staffordshire. Following further proceedings during the service, the Birmingham Citadel Band provided a recessional and other music during a reception.
