Rotary Festival of Music Features Birmingham Citadel Band

2004 marks the 100th anniversary of Rotary International. In honor the occasion, six Rotary Clubs (Audley, Blackfriars, Etruria, Kidsgrove, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and Wolstanton) organized a Festival of Music. The Festival was held on 10 October 2004 at the Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent. Participating groups included the Birmingham Citadel Band of the Salvation Army (Bandmaster David Nicholson) and a massed male voice choir comprised of singers from choirs in Audley and Biddulph. Proceeds from the event, which was a complete sell-out, will be used to further the organizer's fundraising efforts to provide new minibuses for three special schools in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The choir began the concert with the Soldier's Chorus from Faust. Other choral items included a number of male voice "classics", including Speed Your Journey, The Lost Chord, Two Little Boys, Take Me Home, and Gwahoddiad. Contributions from the band included the cornet trio The Heralds; The Two Imps, a xylophone duet; Count Your Blessings; Green Hill; Love Changes Everything; Les Toreadors; Collage of Contemporary Gospel Praise; and the classic march Rosehill.
