Medical Student Launches "Euphonothon"
Riding a bicycle the entire length of Great Britain, from Land's End to John O' Groats, is an embitious undertaking. A medical student from the University of Dundee has come up with a novel way to make his ride even more challenging. Joe Symonds, 21, is an avid cyclist who also happens to play the euphonium. His ride, a fund-raising effort for the The Institute of Cardiovascular Research in Dundee, will include a number of concerts with brass bands where Symonds will play euphonium solos. His term for the combined bicycle marathon and euphonium concert tour is a "Euphonothon". According to Symonds web site, www.euphonothon.org, he will perform at thirteen concerts during the ride, beginning on 25 July 2004. A complete list of the concerts and the bands involved is below.
