Playa Ancha Corps Band Plays at Major Shopping Mall

On July 12, 2003, the Playa Ancha Corps senior band, under the direction of Bandmaster Oscar Soto, performed at the Marina Arauco Mall. Located in Viña del Mar, an upscale suburb of Valparaiso well-known as a major tourist destination, this is one of the largest shopping and business complexes in the area.

The band played crowd-pleasing selections such as "Swing-Time Religion". "Farandole", and Stephen Bulla's Latin-rhythmn arrangement "Do Lord, Oh!". A Gospel message was provided by the director of the Salvation Army's Men's Home in Valparaiso, Captain José Saavedra.

The concert was one of a series of special events in July that celebrate the 125th anniversary of the organization's change of name from the Christian Mission to The Salvation Army in 1878.
