Longest-Serving Member of Canadian Staff Band Retires
When the Canadian Staff Band was reformed in October, 1968, Robert (Bob) Young was on first trombone at the first rehearsal. After 34 years of continuous service, including 27 years on first baritone, he has retired from active service with the band. Bandsman Young is the last member of the original 1968 band to retire, and thus holds the record for longest service to the group. In addition to his playing duties, he served for many years as the band's secretary for special events, such as alumni reunions and anniversary celebrations.
