18th Annual Salvationist Star Search
As a part of the 2002 Commissioning weekend, the USA Eastern Territory held the eighteenth annual Salvationist Star Search. Over 500 people from all parts of the territory took part in the competitions. Held this year at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the event saw competition in a number of musical, dramatic and gospel arts categories, including brass, piano and vocal soloists, singing companies, youth choruses, youth bands, timbrel brigades and mime groups. Members of the New York Staff Band supplemented the event, with several participating as leaders of various competing groups and others as session leaders. At the conclusion of the event, 900 people attended the Awards Ceremony in the Sheraton's Diamond Court Ballroom.
