Western Musicians Honored as Trailblazers

The USA Western Territory announced its Trailblazer of the Year (formerly Frontiersman of the Year) awards in the Commissioning issue of the New Frontier newspaper.

Bill Nunes, Creative Ministries Director of the Southwest Division, was honored for his work in his work in the divisional music ministry. He first joined the music department of the Southwest Division in 1982, and was named Creative Ministries Director in October, 1995. He is the founder of The Gospel Choir, a singing group which has represented the Salvation Army at many events, including the International Millenial Congress held last year in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bandmaster Ivor Bosanko, Territorial Music Secretary and his wife Janette, who has served as the assistant to the Program Secretary, received the Trailblazer Lifetime Service Award. For more than twenty years, the Bosankos have been working from Territorial Headquarters, often being key players in major territorial events and initiatives. The Bosankos will be retiring in late September of this year.

Others recognized as Trailblazers of the Year included Mrs. Janet Kincaid, Major Susan Wun, and Envoy Roy Snapp-Kolas.
